Experiments with Chemistry

by Science Crew 2

Description :

The Science Crew 2 showed us how to use household materials to experiment in Chemistry! Red cabbage has a purple color thanks to anthocyanin. Anthocyanin turns red-pink when in an acidic environment and blue-green when in an alkaline environment. The team demonstrated the color change using kitchen chemicals, like vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice and dish soap. We love how they are showing us the whole experiment in one take, with the arabic translation! Congratulations Science Crew 2!

Science Crew 2

Hello everybody 😎😎 We are the “Science Crew 2” from Larissa. Do you know us? This is the second time that we participate at the festival. We are excited😀😀. Now we will show you an amazing expirement. We hope you will like it as much as we did👍👍👍

– Cut the red cabbage into thin slices and bring to a boil
– When the water starts to boil, stir, turn off the fire and leave the mixture for half an hour
– Pour the water from the pot into the glass jar, filtering the mixture through the strainer. You now have an indicative liquid.
– Fill 4 glasses with the liquid
– Now add vinegar to the first, lemon to the second, detergent powder to the third and liquid detergent to the fourth.
What happens?
The liquid changes colour. Why?
The liquid we got when we boiled the red cabbage is an indicator, that is, a substance that can change colour depending on whether it comes into contact with an acid or a base.

This is full of the amazing colours nature gives us. Amazing to watch, makes me so proud of you!
Impressive what you little chemists are able to do. Can't wait to see what you can do in the future!

With love,

Jamal
