A Mountain That Sneezes Fire

by The Magma-tics

Description :

The Magma-tics team created a realistic volcano!

With the help of their teacher, the Magma-tics team learned about the Earth’s interior. They studied and colored the Earth’s layers and learned how volcanoes are formed.

But their activity didn’t end there, they also built and colored a volcano that erupted! Don’t worry, though, the magma wasn’t real, it was just baking soda and vinegar reacting together.

Congratulations to the Magma-tics on their awesome volcano!

The Magma-tics’ Description

“Our mission was simple: build a mountain that sneezes fire! Under the guidance of our beloved teacher Mrs Vergopoulou Zafeiroula, who luckily has a lot of patience and a very large roll of paper towels, we turned our classroom into a high-alert splash zone. Our experiment involves a dash of geology, a spoonful of chemistry, and a whole lot of hope that the ‘lava’ stays on the tray. When the vinegar met the baking soda, our volcano didn’t just erupt—it threw a massive, pink, foamy party! We are joining this global project to prove that science is 10% knowledge and 90% trying not to get red food coloring on clothes! “

The Magma-tics

Hi! We are “The Magma-tics”, a team of primary school explorers fueled by curiosity and a love for “why.” What we love most about our group is how we balance each other out—some of us are great at building things, others have the wildest ideas, and there’s always someone to keep us laughing when a project gets tricky.
Our school is a place of bright colors and constant experiments, where every day feels like an adventure. For those of us who are “children on the move,” life has meant changing cities and schools often. This experience has taught us that while homes might change, science is a universal language that helps us connect with new friends anywhere in the world.
Under the guidance of our beloved teacher mrs Vergopoulou Zafeiroula, we have dived deep into the explosive world of volcanoes! Our teacher encourages us to ask big questions and helps us turn our curiosity into real experiments.
Our project focuses on the explosive world of volcanoes! We are fascinated by how these “geologic architects” shape our planet, from the way tectonic plates move to the chemical reactions that create a baking soda and vinegar eruption. By building our own models, we’re learning how pressure and gases can turn solid rock into liquid lava.
We decided to participate in this global project because we believe that even the youngest scientists can find big solutions. We are so excited to share our discoveries with kids from every corner of the planet!
